To the fellow bloggers who told me that hope is merely a four letter word…this is for you.
Don’t tell me there is no hope. You may choose to live your life without it, however, I refuse to live in that prison. Life may be full of jagged edges and unexpected turns, but there is always an intersection; a way through and out, instead of a dead end. Hope is ever present, it’s up to you to hold onto it or throw it away. I will never give up on hope because sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me going.
Don’t tell me I’m too young to understand. You’re right, I’m young, but just because I’m not entering into my sixth decade of life doesn’t mean I lack life experience and wisdom. I’ve been through much more than many who are older than me. I’ve chosen to see within my story a persistent theme of hope that will only continue to expand as I grow older.
Don’t put me in a box. You can tell me I’m a naive individual, walking through life with an inadequate sense of reality. But if there is one thing I know for certain, I was not made to fit into your mold. I am a unique individual, coming to the table with the ambition to break any stereotype that someone may appose upon me.
There will always be people who will try to bring you down. They may use your age and experience as factors to stack up against you. Don’t let close-minded or ignorant people stop you from speaking your truth. Share your story, your experiences and your wisdom; you are important and your narrative deserves to be heard.
As for me, I will continue to tell my story. I will speak with truth, support and encouragement. Because hope, is more than just a four letter word.
