It doesn’t have to be complicated or uncomfortable. It doesn’t require a lot.
It’s about raising awareness and hoping for a change for those involved in the world of foster care and adoption.
nothing will completely take away that loss, but processing the feelings surrounding it are so very important.
I hope that there will be more acknowledgement of trauma and emotional confusion that is so prevalent among adoptees. I hope it shows that children have a lot more insight than may be perceived.
I easily fell into that way of thinking, equating my lack of interest in boys to thinking I wasn’t ready for them; I was too immature or had other interests that required my attention. I believed I must just be a late bloomer.
Adoption is hard. Regardless of age, there is trauma, the two go hand in hand. No child comes as a blank slate.
